Anchor Hocking Glass Loaf PanExploded in the oven350 degrees baking for nearly 40 minutes when it went off. (6 Jan) I emailed Anchor Hocking about the explosion.(12 Jan) Anchor Hocking replied:"--if the damaged dish is still availableplease return it to us for product analysis---""We would like you to know (tempered soda lime glass description)- --- It will generally break into many smaller rounded pieces (some larger), which are less likely to cause serious injury. Itis possible that something beyond our control or a small crack, chip orbruise to the glass which may have occurred during shipping, handling orstorage might not lead to immediate breakage but to failure duringnormal use at a later time. A warning on our Care/Use/Warranty andovenware packaging describes this mode of failure. " They are sending a replacement, due to arrive in 3-4 weeksReview response to their reply:1. There were sharp shards all over2. Amazon did not send any Anchor Hocking packaging, "Care/Use/Warranty". (I bought 2 of them--- is there a packaging issue with Amazon?)

I have given up on metal and silicon loaf pans. Love the results from my products baked in glass. Glass produces the desired browned and crispy crust and never will rust or turn color. And, it is always dishwasher reliable.

I think it is heinous that manufacturers of metal cookware keep purveying "non-stick" coatings on the uneducated populace: the coating is carcinogenic so when you scratch it with a metal knife (for cutting meatloaf, etc.) you are loosening the non-stick chemical and ingesting it. That is why the companies say to only use wood or plastic utensils on these wares. So these glass loaf pans solve the problem beautifully.
